Igludome

Geodesic domeCan be orderedIgludome ↗

Igludome has no published price and is engineered to 75 mph wind.

Igludome does not publish a snow load, anything about fire or a price for this model, so 62 percent of the fields we score are blank.

None of that tells you whether it works on your land. Wind, snow, seismic and flood performance are site specific engineering, so the only useful answer comes from running this kit against your address.

Completeness

38%

38 percent of the fields we score are backed by something Igludome published. Why completeness is never part of the grade.

The thing nobody else will tell you

This kit cannot be scored on its own. Nothing on this page tells you whether it works on your land.

Wind, snow, seismic and flood performance come from your address, not from this kit. Put in an address and the gates run against the real requirement at that point.

The Kit Home Finder Grade

Not ratedNot rated, which is the absence of a score rather than a bad one. We could not rate cost honesty or materials and carbon tier, and a grade needs two of the three, so the buyability score we do have stands on its own below. This says nothing about how the kit performs. A maker can publish an excellent wind and snow rating and still be unrateable here, because this grade measures whether you can buy it, whether the price is honest, and what it is made of.

Rubric v1.0, August 2026. Site fit is not in this grade, because it depends on your land rather than on the kit. Every weight, and what we refuse to grade.

Not published

This maker publishes no price. That is the single most common gap in the Index, and it is the first thing to ask them.

What that number coversStandard kits ship with assembly instructions for self-assembly; professional installation is offered separately.

What else we found

Based in Newmarket, Ontario. CONVERSIONS I PERFORMED: published wind rating is 'winds up to 120km per hour', which I converted to 75 mph (120 x 0.621371 = 74.6). Published lead time is 'up to 15 days for delivery' for standard kits, converted to roughly 2 weeks. SNOW LOAD NOT RECORDED: the site says the dome 'can withstand under heavy snow load up to 110lbs' - the unit is stated as pounds, not pounds per square foot, so it cannot be safely read as a psf figure and max_snow_psf stays null. Product line is greenhouse, poly, bubble, glamping, event, sauna, educational and pool-enclosure domes - habitable but glamping-oriented rather than a permanent dwelling. No prices or diameters published on the homepage.

Questions to send this maker

Generated from what they left blank. Every one of these is a thing they could answer today and have chosen not to publish. Copy them into an email. If they answer, tell us and we will update this page with the citation.

  • What does this cost, in dollars, and exactly which build stages does that number cover?
  • What ground snow load can the roof carry, in pounds per square foot, and is that the ground load or the roof load?
  • What is the roof assembly's fire classification, and are the vents ember resistant?
  • What Seismic Design Category will you engineer this model to, and is that included or a paid upgrade?
  • Which foundation types does this kit support, and can it sit on piers above a base flood elevation?
  • What is the wall R value, and is that nominal insulation or a tested whole assembly value including thermal bridging?
  • What is the roof R value, and is it nominal or whole assembly?
  • What is the finished square footage of this model?

Across the whole Index, the average kit publishes about a quarter of what a buyer needs. This maker is at 38 percent.

Questions people ask about the Igludome

Answered from what Igludome publishes, including the answers that are "they do not say".

How much does the Igludome cost?

Igludome publishes no price for this model. Across the whole Index only about a third of makers publish a price in dollars at all.

What wind speed is the Igludome engineered to?

Igludome publishes 75 mph for this model. That is their design capability at the conditions they assume, not a rating of your house. Your required design wind speed depends on your address, your Risk Category and your Exposure Category.

What snow load can the Igludome roof take?

Igludome does not publish a snow load for this model. Around one maker in twenty does.

Can you actually buy the Igludome?

Yes. Igludome takes orders for this model today.

What foundation does the Igludome need?

Igludome does not publish foundation options for this model. That matters more than it sounds: in a FEMA A or V flood zone the finished floor has to sit above the base flood elevation, and a kit offered on a slab only cannot get there.

How well does the Igludome stand up to a hurricane or a wildfire?

The honest answer is what it resists, and under what conditions. No kit home is proof against either, and any page telling you otherwise is selling. "Hurricane rated" has no legal definition in the United States, no house can be tornado rated, and whole building certifications like LEED, Passive House and HERS all require a built, sited, inspected home and cannot be attached to a model from a spec sheet. What a maker can honestly tell you is what the design resists and under what conditions. For this model, that is a 75 mph design wind speed.

Will the Igludome work on my land?

Nothing on any spec sheet can answer that, including this one. Wind, snow, seismic, flood and soil requirements come from your address, not from the kit. The Kit Home Finder runs every kit in the Index against the published hazard data for your point and shows you what survives and why the rest did not. It is free.

How it compares

It documents more than the average geodesic dome kit, 38 percent against 30, and more than 10 of the other 16 we hold. Publishing a design wind speed puts it in the 41 percent of geodesic dome makers that do.

Computed across all 514 kit homes in the Index, 17 of them geodesic dome. Recomputed on every build.

Igludome will not tell you what this costs. Members get the delivered cost by stage.

The narrowing is free and always will be. Membership is for the part after you have your shortlist, when you need to act on it.
